The Glory of Sex

Needing a Creed

The church of the 21st century seems to be faced with the theological question of what God’s purpose is for human sexuality. Other generations have debated soteriology, Biblical veracity, sacraments, and furthest back the early church debated whether Gentile believers needed circumcision (Acts 15:6-29). Through all of these historic debates, one common trait is that the result is some form of creed or confession. At first the creeds were defining Christianity, and as history has gone on they have had a tendency to define types of Christianity.

Nevertheless, the 21st century, I believe will be a century in which the church must decide upon the matter of human sexuality. There may well need be a sort of “creed of biblical sexuality” that ought to be crafted and adopted by the church to distinguish herself from the libertinism that has swept up our culture and sadly has swallowed many denominations in its deluge. And We’re Accused of Subjugating Women?

Leonardo DiCaprio recently made headlines that churned my stomach as I read them: “Leonardo DiCaprio leaves Miami nightclub with 20 models” and “Leonardo DiCaprio Breaks Up With Girlfriend, Leaves Club With 20 Models”. The media was deeply impressed, and showed their adoration of a man who could dump a lovely young woman (half his age) and then go to a club and show that he’s such a chick-magnet, such a stud, that he’ll take twenty babes, thank you very much.leo_dicaprio1_300_400

And yet we (and by “we” I mean conservative, evangelical Christians) are accused of subjugating women, mistreating them, and keeping them down all because we fight hammer and tongs against the murder of innocent unborn women. This is a great violation of the script. If you want to play with the cool kids you’ve gotta follow their rules. It is fine to be for women’s rights, equality, and such things, but this only applies to human women, not those fetal women that aren’t quite yet fully human (despite having all the DNA and genetic material of a human). Facebook is hopping on the train of “tolerance,” “equality,” and “love.” They are actively promoting “Pride Month.” This is accompanied by this logo:

How cute, eh?!

Well, they put the ball on the tee, and now I’d like to take a swing. The policy of war is that the only cause to draw one’s sword is in the act of defending one’s homeland. To advance one’s own realm by trampling on the homeland of others is tyranny; but when tyranny encroaches upon the soil of one’s nativity, the sword must be drawn. Wallace once said, “He strikes home, when right points his sword.” I want to strike home, and thus I raise the sword of truth. I do not wish a violent struggle; rather, I believe that the force of persuasion, and the sharpened blade of the pen is the weapon of choice in this battle. The Tyrant of Deception is forcing itself upon the sacred territory of freedom, and thus it is the hour when those who would fight for truth, justice and liberty to refuse to kiss the sword that would enslave them; rather, now is the time to point to the injustice of this campaign.
