However surprising Trump’s rise to political prominence is, what is unsurprising is that some people are donald-trump
ever eager to support authoritarianism. What does come as a surprise is who this batch of people is: largely, evangelicals.

It would seem to me that Christians ought to have seen through the charade of playing to our nationalistic fantasies, and they ought to have noticed the parade of inconsistencies. But it would seem that they haven’t.

Why is this? Why should a people whose faith teaches us to be patient, fore-bearing, discerning, shrewd, self-controlled and wary of tyranny be so easily duped by the ponzi scheme being run on us. A billionaire has set his sights on the Oval Office and correctly concluded that he would be best served in obtaining that venture by winning the support of Evangelical Christians. The final thing I’d like to address is the budgetary claims the President made. President Obama touted the fact that the Federal Government’s deficit will be the lowest it has been since 2008, a mere 3224056738_8463b09018$468,000,000,000. This was spun as positive news, when in reality this is irresponsibility at its finest! The Federal Government’s total revenue this year is $3,340,000,000,000 (that’s $3.34 trillion, but I think the zeros need to be included); the proposed White House budget is around $3,900,000,000,000. This leaves a shortfall of around $468-564 billion depending on what reports you look at! This will cause our national debt to rise to a staggering $18,690,000,000,000!!
If a citizen who makes $50,000 annually, spent the way the government is spending, that would mean they would be $8000 in debt after just one year. The atrocity of this is put well by this statistic from Brillig: “The estimated population of the United States is 319,903,034 so each citizen’s share of this debt is $56,578.89.” My 1 year old daughter currently owes more than I make annually! For all this talk about our responsibility to future generations, this is hypocrisy at its finest.
We are to provide and protect our offspring. Furthermore, it is painfully obvious that our children will pay the price for our fiscal irresponsibility and greed. This is fundamentally wrong, for we are forcing children to pay for the crimes of their fathers and rather than leaving them blessed and free, we are leaving them cursed and in bondage to the penalty of our greed and irresponsibility. The proposals and policies being discussed by the President as well as by many in Congress are commonly irresponsible and lacking in consideration to the safety and security of our grand Nation’s future. The Real State of the Union (Part Fourth)

Here is the fourth entry in my series addressing the big issues raised by President Obama in the recent 3224056738_8463b09018State of the Union Address.

We must affirm the fact that all men are created equal and God has endowed them with certain inalienable rights. However, not all ideas are created equal. Thus, we must be wary of jumping on the bandwagon of the tolerance crowd which insists that we refuse to hurt anyone’s feelings by critically evaluating their worldview and what informs it. In the case of the President’s view of the Islamic religion we see a woefully inadequate assessment of the Islamic worldview.
It is oft repeated that the terrorists and radicals ought not to taint our view of the religion as a whole, and that is indeed a healthy and judicious reaction. If 1% of a certain ethnic group was known for radical and violent behavior to defend their beliefs, we wouldn’t consider it an attribute of the whole. We should examine why that 1% acts as it does and seek to both sway them from their violent ways and yet to defend the rest of us from them! With the recent high-profile domestic abuse, and sexual exploitation cases in the news, it is interesting to watch moral relativists try to find a reason why delivering a knock-out punch to your fiancé in an elevator is wrong. It is sort of like watching this:

No matter how hard they try, they can’t seem to free themselves from the tangle of relativism that they have got themselves in. Our culture is rampantly seeking to do away with gender roles and at the same time decry the exploitation and objectification of women. It moans about abuse of women, but refuses to acknowledge that relativism has no clear definition for what a woman is. Is it any wonder that in doing away with biblical gender identity, we have created a monster that doesn’t know the difference between a woman and a piece of meat? Right on cue the news stories validate exactly what many biblically minded Christians have been predicting for a while; namely, thatholding hands 10.01.14 when we begin to “redefine” sex, marriage, love, and gender, we had better get ready for a very bumpy ride. Exhibit one is a news story out of The Guardian in the UK. Mr. Dale Bolinger was just your average nurse; except for his fetish for wanting to eat his sexual partners. Yes, you read that right, and I would commission the tolerance crowd to begin their marches, protests, and lobbying to provide equal rights to people like Bolinger. Already people are condemning his actions and we just can’t have such intolerance. I mean, why should society stop him from loving whomever and however he wants to love? Facebook is hopping on the train of “tolerance,” “equality,” and “love.” They are actively promoting “Pride Month.” This is accompanied by this logo:

How cute, eh?!

Well, they put the ball on the tee, and now I’d like to take a swing. The policy of war is that the only cause to draw one’s sword is in the act of defending one’s homeland. To advance one’s own realm by trampling on the homeland of others is tyranny; but when tyranny encroaches upon the soil of one’s nativity, the sword must be drawn. Wallace once said, “He strikes home, when right points his sword.” I want to strike home, and thus I raise the sword of truth. I do not wish a violent struggle; rather, I believe that the force of persuasion, and the sharpened blade of the pen is the weapon of choice in this battle. The Tyrant of Deception is forcing itself upon the sacred territory of freedom, and thus it is the hour when those who would fight for truth, justice and liberty to refuse to kiss the sword that would enslave them; rather, now is the time to point to the injustice of this campaign.

Butterflies in the stomach are nothing. Try piranhas! That’s what my insides felt like on the day that I had my first job interview. I was 18 and my parents were lovingly giving me that shove to say, “listen buckaroo life costs money, get off your rear end and start working.” They persuaded me to apply to work at a local Christian Bookstore. When I entered the office of the manager, he looked at me and said, “Ben, your last name is Zornes, and that’s good enough for me.”

I was slightly confused, and my face must have resembled a Mississippi deer in a redneck’s headlights. He explained further, “I have met your father, Tom, a few times, and I’ve heard so many good things about him.
