Very simply, we live at a juncture of history not at all dissimilar from Elijah’s day. Upon Mount Carmel he issued this challenge to the apostate Israelites: “And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken (1Ki 18:24).†The story ends with the Baal’s silence and Jehovah’s thunderous flame. God won…even with the rather disproportionate representation for Jehovah (it was something like Elijah vs. 850 pagan priests).
When the Planned Parenthood sting video broke three weeks ago, many believers grieved over the haggling for babies’ body parts, but there was also a sense of joy; joy that finally the monstrosity of the worldwide abortion industry was finally being seen in all its heinous greed. I know that myself, my believing friends, and many other Christians have spent countless hours over the last 40+ years praying that the abortion industry might be obliterated, and that the smoke of it would go ever upward in sight of the saints.Â
With the release of the follow up videos (each more heinous and gruesome and hopefully more on the way), I was reminded that in an age that claims God is a figment of antiquity and an outdated myth, we see quite clearly that God is still the defender of the weak, and His arm has not been shortened that it cannot save. We must stress that God answers the prayers of His saints, and amongst the feverish push to defund Planned Parenthood, we as Christians ought not to forget that this victory was preceded by many tearful prayers by a multitude of saints.
Thus, remember to give thanks to God for answering our prayers. We ought not be surprised that He has done so, after all Christ promised, “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son (Jhn 14:13).†However, the most important principle of this sort of battle is to not relent until the enemy is entirely routed and scattered. Others have stated this need better than I, but we must not underestimate the power of utilizing Google and hashtags to our benefit on this issue. I encourage you to read Joe Rigney’s post, as well as Doug Wilson’s, and Matt Walsh’s; they each make excellent points. And share and hashtag away…#DefundPlannedParenthood #PPsellsbabyparts.
